There's a side trail I'm fond of that branches off not far from the start of the main path, on the south side of the forest. I can meet you where the main path starts, and we can move from there?
That sounds perfect. I'll see you this afternoon, Professor.
[The plans are enough to buoy Marianne's mood throughout her morning. It's a treasure to be able to make plans like this, unburdened from the shackles of both the war and her self-doubt. This Byleth isn't her Byleth, but Marianne holds her dear to her heart all the same.
(In a sense, their relationship is almost more meaningful this way. Two different sides, finding friendship and common ground here. Marianne only wishes that could have been the case in Fódlan. A lot of bloodshed and heartache might have been avoided.)
Before too long, Marianne is waiting at the head of the main path waiting for Byleth to arrive. She's still in her long skirts--when is she not?--but has good boots and a light top in lieu of her full formal attire.]
[ for byleth's part, she's dressed simply. a white blouse, dark trousers and boots. as a matter of habit, her dagger and the sword of seiros hang at her hip, and a small satchel is slung over her shoulder. her always-messy hair is tied back into a loose ponytail with a borrowed lilac ribbon.
she waves with the hand not holding her walking stick once she's about ten yards off, smiling at marianne. ]
[Marianne smiles and waves back. The fact that Byleth is armed doesn't faze her, and even the weapon she's armed with only gives her the briefest of pauses. Better safe than sorry, and the Byleth she knows would have done the same. That the armaments differ, and how much so, is to be expected. Different timelines and all that.]
No, I've only been here a little while. I was worried about being late, so I ended up getting here a bit early.
[She didn't want to keep the Professor waiting. Some habits die hard.]
Thank you again for inviting me. It's a beautiful day.
